About the position

As a Mechanical Engineer in the Ride & Show Mechanical Engineering (R&SME) group at Walt Disney World, you will be responsible for the development, management, and execution of various engineering projects related to theme park attractions. This includes working on roller coasters, animatronics, and other attractions, collaborating with a team of engineers and designers, and ensuring compliance with design standards and safety protocols. This role is a project hire with no guarantee of permanent placement.

Responsibilities

• Perform job captain duties on small to large projects including design, component specification, engineering, hazard analysis, manufacturing support, installation, acceptance testing, and post-turnover support.
• Mentor interns and support a second set of eyes approach to ensure compliance with design workflow processes, standards, and codes.
• Support partnering organizations to deliver world-class experiences for guests and cast.
• Work with minimum supervision, conferring with superiors on unusual matters.
• Utilize originality and resourcefulness in broad assignments.

Requirements

• Minimum one year of experience in the design of heavy mechanical equipment, such as large conveyance systems, automotive, or large robotic systems.
• Demonstrate positive relationship skills working with technical groups and multidiscipline teams.
• Demonstrate strong partnering skills with partners and customers.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Proficiency using Engineering and Design software such as SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
• Proficiency in performing classical and/or computer-based engineering analysis using hand calculations, FEA software, or MathCAD.
• Broad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures of the mechanical engineering field.

Nice-to-haves

• Minimum year of proven experience with Disney design standards or equivalent and ASTM F24.
