About the position

Innova Solutions is seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Engineer to serve an American government and commercial services contractor. This position is based in Hawthorne, Nevada, and is a full-time, direct hire opportunity. The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for performing a range of design development, analysis, and review tasks under some supervision. The role involves conferring with customers and supervisors to determine project details, such as scope of work, timing, and special conditions. The engineer will assess customer needs and analyze proposed site factors to prepare concept design strategies. The Mechanical Engineer will prepare drawings, specifications, schedules, and cost estimates for design projects, direct inspectors in construction management activities, and solve construction issues as they arise. They will develop engineering standards for installation facilities construction and champion the installation's goal to provide quality facilities. The engineer will evaluate plans and criteria, complete special analyses supporting engineering efforts, and provide technical expertise on various engineering activities. Additionally, the Mechanical Engineer will draft and supervise the drafting of detailed plans and construction documents, ensuring compliance with appropriate drawing standards. They will prepare detailed statements of work for construction projects, determine material quantities and labor requirements, and prepare documents presenting costs for programming projects. The role also includes leading or participating in multi-discipline projects, contract solicitation, bid review, and ensuring compliance with contract specifications. The engineer will conduct site visits, investigate engineering problems, propose solutions, and provide recommendations. Finally, they will prepare reports and document project activities, ensuring complete and appropriate project closeout.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a range of design development, analysis or review tasks under some supervision.
  • Confer with customer/supervisor to determine project details, such as scope of work, timing of work, phasing requirements, plan preparation, acceptance issues, special conditions, or other matters.
  • Assess customer needs/requirements and analyze proposed site factors to scope work and prepare concept design strategies.
  • Prepare drawings, specifications, schedules and cost estimates for design projects.
  • Direct inspectors in construction management activities.
  • Solve construction issues as they arise.
  • Develop engineering standards for installation facilities construction.
  • Develop and champion the installation's goal to provide quality facilities.
  • Evaluate plans/criteria and complete special analyses supporting engineering efforts accomplished by others.
  • Provide technical expertise on a variety of engineering activities.
  • Develop plans for installation of systems, utilization of facilities, or construction of structures that comply with programmed scope and costs.
  • Draft/supervise drafting of detailed plans and construction documents.
  • Assure drawings are prepared in compliance with appropriate drawing (tri-service) standards.
  • Prepare detailed statements of work for construction projects.
  • Determine material quantities, labor requirements and other factors, and use such information in preparing detailed, accurate projections of construction costs.
  • Prepare documents presenting costs for use in programming projects, preparing budgeting plans and assessing validity of contractor bids.
  • Lead or participate with other designers to collaborate in multi-discipline projects.
  • Participate in contract solicitation, bid review, award, and pre-work activities.
  • Assure contract documents (e.g. signed drawings, purchase requests, submittal listings, etc.) are promptly prepared, executed and delivered.
  • Review contract submittals for compliance with contract specifications.
  • Inspect project site and evaluate contractor compliance with contract requirements.
  • Oversee activities of project inspectors to assure regular and accurate daily inspection of contractor work.
  • Assure complete and appropriate project closeout, including fiscal closeout, as-built and record drawing completion, etc.
  • Investigate existing conditions of structures or systems to assess their adequacy/suitability for use.
  • Conduct testing and analyses, using tools and equipment, and applying engineering knowledge.
  • Prepare reports and document project activities and data.
  • Design a portion or section of an analysis or design review.
  • Generate sections of design specifications of more complex projects or complete specifications of less complex projects.
  • Prepare, deliver and submit technical presentations for in-process design and review meetings.
  • Establish and maintain a filing system or databases as needed for tracking project status.
  • Develop, maintain and produce technical documentation and system/subsystem specifications.
  • Direct interface and liaison with customers at all levels from quotation to final design and test activities, design reviews and technical working group meetings to comply with requirements and specifications.
  • Conduct site visits and investigate engineering problems, propose solutions and alternatives, and provide recommendations.
  • Verify and comply with engineering documentation standards and test procedures.

Requirements

  • Three (3) years professional technical experience which includes at least one (1) year specialized experience performing mechanical, electrical, or computer engineering.
  • Experience with SOLIDWORKS, Inventor, 3D CAD, and Weapons System.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering with some applicable design experience required.
  • Possess analytical abilities necessary to handle extremely complex administrative, organizational, and contract matters.
  • Have a basic knowledge of computers-able to input and extract data, prepare briefings, transmit documents.
  • Possess excellent oral, written, and communication skills; able to address a variety of audiences.
  • Able to give attention to detail and execute on multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to deal with customers and company employees in a courteous, professional, and effective manner.
  • Valid Drivers' License required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance.

Benefits

  • Pay range of $100,000-$115,000/year, negotiable based on education, work experience, work location, specific job duties, certifications, etc.
