About the position

The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for preparing HVAC and plumbing construction drawings, details, and schedules within the Commercial Construction department. This role emphasizes collaboration with customers to design systems that meet their specific needs, while also ensuring adherence to industry standards and codes. The position requires a self-directed and motivated individual who can effectively manage projects and communicate with team members and clients.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare HVAC and plumbing construction drawings, details, and schedules.
  • Read and interpret HVAC and plumbing plans and specifications.
  • Provide information to estimators regarding bid packages.
  • Interact with customers to understand their building usage and internal processes for system design.
  • Document systems design using Revit.
  • Conduct engineering analysis work, including load calculations and equipment sizing.
  • Build BIM/3D models and coordinate with internal and external team members.

Requirements

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
  • 4 or more years of experience in the commercial construction engineering field, preferably in HVAC and plumbing.
  • Knowledge of local industry codes.
  • Experience with BIM processes, including software and project coordination.
  • Experience with Revit.
  • Working knowledge of HVAC and plumbing systems is preferred.
  • Excellent project management and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team with minimal direction.
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong computer knowledge, including experience with AutoCAD and MS Office suite.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the commercial construction engineering field specifically in HVAC and plumbing.
  • Knowledge of local industry codes.
