About the position

As a Mechanical Engineer at Actalent, you will be responsible for product design and improvement, ensuring that customer requirements, specifications, functionality, cost, and manufacturability are all taken into account. This role requires you to interface with various departments including Sales, Manufacturing (including outside suppliers), Vendors, Engineering (including Electrical Engineering), and Research & Development (R&D). You will support R&D with various mechanical engineering tasks, which may include performing testing and developing and documenting test protocols. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, is essential for this position. You must be able to communicate technical concepts clearly and concisely, both verbally and in written form. Additionally, the ability to independently research and validate various subjects using online resources is crucial. The position may require some travel, but it is expected to be less than 5%.

Responsibilities

• Product Design (Mechanical) and Product Improvement considering customer requirements, specifications, functionality, cost, and manufacturability.
• Interface with Sales, Manufacturing (including outside suppliers), Vendors, Engineering (including Electrical Engineering), R&D, and others.
• Support R&D with various Mechanical Engineering tasks, which may include performing testing and developing and documenting test protocols.
• Communicate technical concepts clearly and concisely, both verbally and in written form.
• Independently research and validate various subjects using online resources.

Requirements

• 3-7 years of mechanical design experience.
• Experience with 3D CAD modeling software.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Inventor software.
• Experience in industrial equipment design, particularly with bulk material heavy equipment products such as conveyors, feeders, and dishwasher equipment.
• Versatility in understanding new processes and working with new products/teams.
• Ability to work as a team player and communicate technical knowledge effectively.
