About the position

Amentum is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our team at the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD) Dam Neck Annex in Virginia Beach, VA. In this role, you will leverage your creativity and resourcefulness to utilize 3D modeling skills in Autodesk Inventor and SolidWorks to simulate and develop innovative designs. We are looking for individuals who value both self-reliance and collaboration, as you will be working closely with a team of engineers and technicians. Your hands-on experience with U.S. Naval ships and mechanical design will be crucial in ensuring the success of our projects. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for researching and analyzing data, including customer design proposals, specifications, and manuals, to assess the feasibility of designs or applications. You will design products or systems that support the infrastructure, research, or maintenance requirements of our facilities. Additionally, you will coordinate, troubleshoot, and approve installation activities, providing inspection services to ensure that all products and systems conform to engineering designs and specifications. Responsibilities

  • Research and analyze data such as customer design proposals, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application.
  • Design products or systems in support of facilities' infrastructure, research, or maintenance requirements.
  • Coordinate, troubleshoot, and approve installation activities as inspection services to ensure products and systems conform to engineering design and specifications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related scientific field.
  • At least 3 years of full-time professional experience working as a Mechanical Engineer.
  • Working knowledge of Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM) for design data processing and product development.
  • Must have an Active SECRET US Government Clearance.
