About the position

We are seeking an innovative, versatile, and resourceful Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic team in San Diego, CA. In this role, you will engage in a variety of tasks including concept design, analysis, detailed design, prototype development, lab testing, and field testing. You will work closely with customers and end users to address their most pressing multidiscipline design challenges. As part of a small, energetic team, you will have the opportunity to develop and contribute across a range of technologies, allowing for overlapping roles and cross-over skillsets. Your ability to apply theory and technical creativity will be crucial in rapidly developing impactful solutions that meet our clients' needs. Your primary responsibilities will include performing CAD manipulation, developing finite element meshes, and manipulating geometries for use in analytical codes. You will be involved in all aspects of the Electromagnetic (EM) Low Observables (LO) design cycle, from concept design and requirements definition to multidiscipline trade studies and analysis, detailed engineering design, and prototype fabrication and testing. Additionally, you will provide direct engineering support for customers and end-users, ensuring that their requirements are met throughout the design process.

Responsibilities

  • Perform CAD manipulation and finite element mesh development.
  • Conduct CAD surfacing, manipulation, and meshing of geometries for analytical codes.
  • Engage in all aspects of the Electromagnetic (EM) Low Observables (LO) design cycle.
  • Define requirements and conduct multidiscipline trade studies and analysis.
  • Execute detailed engineering design and prototype fabrication and testing.
  • Provide direct engineering support for customers and end-users.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Science and/or Engineering with at least 4 years of related experience or a Master's with 2+ years of relevant experience.
  • Must have a Secret Security Clearance and the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Security Clearance.
  • Experience with all aspects of the design cycle, from concept design to prototype fabrication and testing.
  • Excellent computer skills, with experience using SolidWorks or Ansys.
  • Proficient with basic hand and shop tools for test article preparation and prototype development.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, meticulous, organized, responsible, and self-motivated with a can-do attitude.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Nice-to-haves

  • Background in Physics, Mathematics, and/or Electrical Engineering.
  • Advanced degree is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of composite materials, Additive Manufacturing, adhesives, coatings, etc.
  • Programming experience in C/C++ and Visual Basic.
  • Aptitude and desire to perform programming for data manipulation and processing.
  • Proficiency in Geometry, Trigonometry, and Linear Algebra.
  • Familiarity with computational electromagnetic (CEM) methodology.
  • Experience with MS Office.
