About the position

Griner Engineering, Inc. (GEI), a well-established Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection Consulting Engineering firm located in St. Petersburg, FL, is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 8 years of design experience within the MEP Consulting Engineering industry. This position requires a strong understanding of Florida Building Codes and local regulations, as well as the ability to produce comprehensive mechanical drawings that align with client specifications. The successful candidate will manage design projects from the proposal stage through to completion, ensuring that all work is completed on schedule and within budget. Collaboration is key in this role, as the Mechanical Engineer will work closely with an interdisciplinary design team that includes other engineers, architects, owners, contractors, subcontractors, and various stakeholders. The ability to respond effectively to reviewer comments, review submittals, and handle Requests for Information (RFIs) is essential. Site visits will be a regular part of the job, allowing the engineer to examine and verify existing conditions, conduct mechanical inspections, and perform mechanical analyses. Proficiency in Revit is required, and familiarity with AutoCAD is assumed. Additionally, candidates should be comfortable using the Microsoft Office Suite. Responsibilities

  • Working knowledge of Florida Building Codes and local codes.
  • Produce a full set of mechanical drawings based on the client's design criteria including specifications, if required.
  • Manage a design project from proposal acceptance through completion.
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary design team including other engineers, architects, owners, contractors, subcontractors, and other invested parties.
  • Respond to reviewer comments, review submittals, and handle RFIs.
  • Stay on schedule and on budget throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Perform site visits to examine/verify existing conditions, conduct mechanical inspections, and perform mechanical analyses.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 8 years of design experience in the MEP Consulting Engineering industry.
  • Proven ability to produce mechanical drawings based on client specifications.
  • Experience managing design projects from proposal acceptance to completion.
  • Strong collaboration skills to work with a diverse design team.
  • Experience responding to reviewer comments and handling RFIs.
  • Proficiency in Revit and familiarity with AutoCAD.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
