About the position

We are an Aviation company in Medley, FL seeking a self-driven, experienced and innovative Mechanical Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in mechanical engineering principles and be adept at designing and developing mechanical systems. This role will work with Product Management, designers, and fellow engineers to develop innovative new products from concept to production. Requires a problem-solving mindset and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to create efficient and effective engineering solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Create detailed part drawings in support of documenting product designs.
  • Design and develop mechanical systems and components, ensuring compliance with industry standards and codes.
  • Create detailed assembly drawings in support of documenting product designs.
  • Create electrical schematics & wiring diagrams.
  • Create CAD models of mechanical components, hardware, and electrical components.
  • Conduct system design analysis to evaluate performance, reliability, and safety of mechanical systems.
  • Create/manage change orders, bills of material for production assemblies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate mechanical designs with electrical, software, and other engineering disciplines.
  • Source OEM components for various products.
  • Work with manufacturing to obtain purchase part quotes and to qualify parts.
  • Perform testing and validation of prototypes to ensure functionality meets design specifications.
  • Prepares design sketches, layouts, and schematics as part of a design team.
  • Document design processes, modifications, and results in accordance with company standards.
  • Select raw materials and components; develop specs for product.
  • Perform stress tests, analyze data, prepare reports, and make comparisons with similar proven designs.
  • Use measurement devices such as calipers and micrometers.
  • Inspect parts for compliance with engineering drawings.
  • Support the team when needed.
  • Follows all policies and procedures of Occupational Safety and Health, Human Resources and Quality Department. Reports any safety deficiency to immediate supervisor.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • BS or MS Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related field of study
  • 3-5+ years of related experience
  • Proficient in creating schematics and technical drawings using CAD software (SolidWorks, 3D rendering)
  • Strong mechanical knowledge with a solid understanding of mechanical engineering principles
  • Familiarity with industry codes and standards relevant to mechanical design
  • Experience in system design and integration within multidisciplinary teams
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications
  • Good mechanical, analytical, and technical skills
  • Good administrative and interpersonal skills
  • Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with team members
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Demonstrated organizational skills to manage multiple projects/initiatives
  • Ability to work as an individual contributor and work effectively in a cross functional project team
