About the position
As a Mechanical Engineer at Actalent, you will be responsible for producing specifications for HVAC, Plumbing, and Sprinkler systems specifically designed for commercial buildings. This role requires you to be client-facing, managing 2-4 projects simultaneously while providing regular updates on the mechanical aspects of each project. You will also be involved in shop grind reviews during the construction administration phase, ensuring that the designs are implemented correctly and efficiently. Regular attendance at project meetings with contractors and other engineers is essential to facilitate communication and collaboration throughout the project lifecycle. This position is fully on-site in Des Moines, Iowa, where you will work in a spacious office environment located on the outskirts of downtown. You will have your own office space and be part of a small team consisting of eight employees, including six engineers and two drafters. The office culture is described as family-oriented, with opportunities for social engagement through family dinners, outings to baseball games, and holiday parties. The majority of the work will be conducted within the state of Iowa, with occasional site visits to monitor project progress. You can expect to work an average of 40-50 hours per week, with typical hours from Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, and adjusted summer hours from Monday to Thursday, 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM, and Friday, 8 AM to 12 PM.
