About the position

Gimbel Automation is seeking a passionate Mechanical Engineer specializing in Automation and Robotics to join our Research and Development team. This role is pivotal in driving the development of our expanding line of automation projects and customer automation cells. As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will be involved in a variety of projects, from designing integrated robotic cells to creating spindle grippers and grabbers for in-machine automation. Our company prides itself on delivering cost-effective and fast-ROI automation solutions to CNC machine shops and production facilities across the United States. We take complex design projects from concept to completion within a few months, handling engineering, manufacturing, assembly, and testing entirely in-house. Our state-of-the-art R&D facilities are equipped with advanced tools such as a Five-Axis Waterjet, Four CNC Machines, laser welding equipment, and multiple laser engravers, providing an ideal environment for prototyping and innovation. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, engineering, and testing components and assemblies using SolidWorks. A strong passion for building efficient automation and robotics solutions is essential, along with familiarity in mechanical engineering, prototyping, and R&D processes. Basic experience with CNC machines and manufacturing equipment is preferred. Responsibilities

  • Designing components and assemblies using SolidWorks.
  • Engineering and testing automation and robotics solutions.
  • Developing customer automation cells.
  • Collaborating with the R&D team on various projects.
  • Ensuring cost-effectiveness and efficiency in designs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or considerable experience in Robotics Automation (portfolio required).
  • At least 4 years of CAD experience, ideally with SolidWorks.
  • Familiarity with pneumatics, actuators, steppers/servos, and PLCs preferred.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor; team-player personality.

Nice-to-haves

  • Basic experience with CNC machines and manufacturing equipment.
