About the position

JGMS Government Services is seeking a full-time, on-site Mechanical Engineer to join the Submarine Spent Fuel Shipping Container Recapitalization Project within Reactor Servicing Systems. The Mechanical Engineer will perform engineering evaluations in support of the design and analysis of shipping container support equipment. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on advanced naval nuclear propulsion technology for the safety and reliability of the Navy's submarine and aircraft fleet.

Responsibilities

  • Develop conceptual designs and detailed engineering drawings.
  • Perform structural analysis and alignment & tolerance studies (fit-up analysis).
  • Support engineering and business activities of the Reactor Servicing organization as needed.
  • Provide data for technical documentation and inspect work in progress to ensure compliance with contract requirements.
  • Provide input to support requests for new projects, including review of statements of work and technical documents.
  • Support the evaluation of project work sites and submit basic written reports.
  • Attend meetings and track project milestones.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering.
  • At least 5 years relevant experience (or equivalent education/experience).
  • Active L security clearance.
  • Experience with mechanical design or structural analysis.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Technical writing skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with developing new equipment systems or hardware concepts.
  • Experience with alignment and tolerance studies or fit-up studies.
  • Experience in developing engineering drawings or specifications.
  • Structural FEA experience.
