About the position
The Application Engineer - Estimator - Project Manager role focuses on supporting the Sales and Estimating teams within the HVAC industry. This position is technical in nature and requires strong communication skills, as it involves direct interaction with customers. The role does not include design work but emphasizes equipment selection, pricing, and proposal development.
Responsibilities
- Review bidding documents including mechanical plans, specifications, and contract documents.
- Handle HVAC equipment selection and pricing, technical writing of proposals, and developing cost analysis spreadsheets for bidding.
- Communicate with equipment manufacturers, suppliers, and mechanical contractors for clarification for sales engineers, application engineers, and project administrators.
- Prepare proposals and pricing breakdowns while evaluating equipment savings/costs.
- Assemble bid files, including all development information, in the customer relationship management (CRM) system to prepare estimates.
- Responsible for the cost estimation of HVAC or Air Distribution equipment and systems related to assigned bid opportunities.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering required.
- Experience in the HVAC industry related to estimating or willingness to learn.
- Familiarity with HVAC Systems, air distribution products, and/or temperature control.
