About the position

The Mechanical Engineer will support the Operations Manager in ensuring high standards of quality and innovative design strategies while enhancing the technical expertise of the studio staff. This role involves optimizing staff utilization, ensuring project adherence to scope, schedule, and budget, and mentoring staff at all levels. The engineer will also participate in project design, bidding, and construction administration, while interfacing with clients and vendors to maintain project progress and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Operations Manager to ensure high standards of quality and innovative design strategies.
  • Optimize the utilization of studio staff through collaboration with Project Managers.
  • Ensure projects are within scope, on schedule, and within budget.
  • Assist in recruiting new studio staff and recommend promotions and rate increases.
  • Oversee performance evaluations and enforce company policies, including termination of underperforming employees.
  • Mentor and develop staff at all levels.
  • Adjust and correlate data, recognizing and addressing discrepancies.
  • Support the generation of proposals and presentations, ensuring accuracy in specifications.
  • Ensure accuracy in meeting applicable billing codes.
  • Participate in projects during design, bidding, and construction administration.
  • Prepare technical and cost aspects for submissions.
  • Interface with existing clients, outside consultants, and vendors.
  • Attend client meetings to discuss job progress.
  • Ensure all production adheres to quality Company Standards.

Requirements

  • Registered Engineer (PE) with a minimum of 10 years of experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of design-to-completion engineering processes.
  • Extensive knowledge of engineering principles and design packages.
  • Thorough knowledge of Company standards.
  • Thorough knowledge of QA/QC.
  • Exceptional communications skills.
  • Ability to model Company Leadership expectations.
  • Maintains discretion.
  • Ability to create and maintain productive relationships with employees, clients, and vendors.
