About the position

The Experienced Mechanical Engineer will play a crucial role in an aircraft HVAC air conditioning company, focusing on evaluating and improving existing designs and developing new options or features. This position involves collaboration with various teams to ensure project timelines and performance criteria are met, while also conducting research and creating detailed drawings for mechanical products and systems.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate documentation such as industry specifications, customer specifications, design proposals, and application requirements to determine feasibility and improvements of existing designs and new options or features.
  • Work with quality, production floor, and design teams to develop products or systems within project timelines and performance criteria.
  • Research, design, develop and create detailed drawings and parts lists for mechanical products and systems.
  • Review and update test procedures, test reports, analysis papers, and manuals.
  • Analyze systems to include structural, thermal, and dynamic characteristics (vibration, shock, etc.).
  • Plan and execute projects within established timelines in collaboration with a cross-functional team.

Requirements

  • Accredited four-year Engineering degree (BSME) required.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in mechanical engineering.
  • Experience with Structural, Thermal FEA and hand calculations.
  • Good understanding of general fabrication processes such as machining, welding, sheet metal, and composites.
  • Ability to understand new concepts quickly and apply them accurately in an evolving environment.
  • Strong organizational, scheduling, and coordination skills to manage work phases and provide solutions to complex problems.
  • Excellent communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team; capable of performing complex tasks in one engineering area.
  • Experience leading a team of less experienced professional employees on semi-routine tasks.
  • Complete understanding of engineering concepts, principles, codes, and theory, with a broad application of those concepts.

Nice-to-haves

  • 2 years experience in a manufacturing setting is a plus.
  • Experience with high vibration, motor-driven applications is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Solid Works and AutoCAD is preferred.
  • Knowledge of drafting practices per ASME Y14.100 with emphasis on Y14.5 and use of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
