About the position

INVISTA in Longview, TX is currently seeking a motivated and self-driven Mechanical Engineer with an interest in the application of the latest engineering technology and leading industry trends. This role will influence and drive the equipment health and overall Site/Business competitiveness. The Mechanical Engineering team is responsible for the support and ownership of site-wide mechanical integrity efforts and reliability through the application of technology. This position will report to our Reliability Manager and involve substantial engagement with IT/OT, Operations Excellence, and Projects. In this role, you will design and implement mechanical engineering projects to address plant needs. You will lead root cause failure analysis related to equipment and be part of the team that implements the latest cutting-edge corrective actions. Supporting maintenance and operations in the repair and selection of plant rotating equipment will be a key responsibility, which includes researching, specifying, and designing solutions. You will provide technical recommendations through the collection and analysis of data/trends on various types of rotating equipment. Additionally, you will partner with Operations and Maintenance to develop new reliability tools while building new capabilities in the organization. Problem-solving and troubleshooting issues using transformative and innovative approaches to drive reliability initiatives and engineering solutions will be essential. You will also support site transformation efforts to move to predictive analytics on rotating equipment and develop tools that convert data into actionable information that drives decision-making. Furthermore, you will support sustainability improvement efforts on site rotating equipment and initiatives at other INVISTA sites in Texas through a Community of Practice.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement mechanical engineering projects to address plant needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, or higher, in an engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years experience in a technical mechanical role.

Nice-to-haves

  • 10+ years' experience in mechanical engineering.
  • Knowledge of compliance and engineering standards (ASME, API, ANSI, ISO, OSHA, and other RAGAGEP).
  • Experience with engineering software, data analytics, and emerging technologies.
  • Experience applying statistical tools and performing reliability modeling.
  • Experience reviewing quality of project deliverables and resolving technical issues.
