About the position

X4 Life Sciences is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join their award-winning MEP firm located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. This is an incredible opportunity for a skilled professional to contribute to a variety of exciting projects across multiple industries, including multi-family residential, commercial, healthcare, municipal, and government sectors. The ideal candidate will be responsible for independently conducting calculations and developing comprehensive designs for heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. This includes full equipment selection for projects of varying scales, ensuring that all designs meet the necessary specifications and standards. As a technical expert within the office, the Mechanical Engineer will demonstrate proficiency in a wide range of HVAC systems and serve as a resource for other team members. The role requires the authoring of specifications and ensuring their coordination with other engineering disciplines. Collaboration with code officials and other design professionals is essential, particularly when interpretations or exceptions to building codes are necessary. The candidate must maintain an extensive knowledge of applicable building codes to ensure compliance throughout the design and construction processes. Additionally, the Mechanical Engineer will possess a deep understanding of the construction process, which includes reviewing shop drawings and addressing inquiries that arise during construction. Performing system analysis and comparisons based on economical and functional considerations is a key responsibility, as is conducting due diligence and feasibility studies to support client requirements for systems of varying complexity. Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with a mechanical focus.

  • Proficiency in CAD is required; experience with Revit is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of relevant building codes and LEED requirements.
