About the position

The Mechanical Engineer will lead the development of new engineered products and associated manufacturing processes within the Assembly Solutions division of MacDermid Alpha Electronic Solutions. This role focuses on innovating solder technologies and preform manufacturing, coordinating with various departments to ensure successful product development and implementation.

Responsibilities

  • Develop solder and Argomax preforms and the processes to manufacture them.
  • Coordinate with Manufacturing, Engineering, R&D, and Marketing, as well as outside contractors in the development of new engineered products.
  • Lead efforts in the development of innovative technologies and new processes to produce new products/preforms.
  • Manage projects to improve or develop processes for making preforms from different alloys, shapes, coatings, and processes.
  • Work with processes such as Argomax coating, Edgegate flux coating, extrusion, rolling, slitting, stamping, de-burring, packaging, laser cutting, powder forming, and sintering.
  • Manage all tool room activities and automation of newly developed processes.
  • Develop and/or select equipment for processing and packaging preforms, including pick and place systems, spooling, and winding.
  • Conduct feasibility studies on new proposed products or processes.
  • Set up, support, and implement preform pilot projects, responsible for data analysis and drawing up conditions for process and product improvement activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a technical field.
  • At least five years of experience in tool engineering, precision stamping, lamination, rolling and slitting, extrusion, reel to reel processing, process automation, and high-speed assembly.
  • Design experience with various materials of construction.
  • Ability to perform basic 2D & 3D design using AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and/or Fusion 360.
  • Strong communication and writing skills.
  • Comfortable operating tool shop equipment.
  • Computer literate in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and AutoCAD.
