About the position

AECOM has a position available for a mid-career Mechanical Engineer to support our growing Energy Business Line. This role offers the freedom and flexibility to work remotely and/or be located at various Energy offices across the United States through our Freedom to Grow program. This program maximizes employee wellbeing and improves our sustainability goals while delivering the best solutions to our clients. We are committed to challenging the status quo and strengthening gender equity and inclusion in the workplace through a culture that works for both you and AECOM. The successful candidate will be a detail-oriented, experienced engineer capable of making independent decisions under the guidance of senior staff. This position presents an excellent career opportunity for an engineer with a strong technical background who is looking to grow into a project technical leadership role. The responsibilities include the development of mechanical equipment and piping material specifications, producing calculations to inform design such as hydraulic modeling, pipe stress calculations, tank and pump sizing, and coordinating with the mechanical design team to direct the completion of engineering drawings. Additionally, the role involves multi-discipline collaboration on the development of equipment general arrangements, P&ID's, isometrics, asset and tie-in lists, and orthographic drawings. The engineer will attend client meetings and/or site field visits, work under limited supervision, and perform both routine and non-routine complex design assignments that require judgment in resolving issues or making recommendations. Maintaining open communication with the project team regarding workload planning, task estimating, and budgeting is essential, as is working with Project Engineers and Project Managers on developing workload forecasts, design schedules, and budgets for electrical engineering work activities. The engineer will also be responsible for creating, updating, and implementing group-specific standards, preparing technical reports and presentations, interacting with vendors, regulatory agencies, and contractors, and preparing project specifications and contract documents.
