About the position

Actalent is seeking a full-time Mechanical Engineer or Mechanical Designer with at least 3 years of experience to support the growth of a local MEP Consulting Firm in Columbus, OH. The role involves HVAC and plumbing system design, and it offers potential career progression to project manager or project engineer.

Responsibilities

• Involve HVAC and plumbing system design, including design computations, loads, air and piping distribution and sizing, equipment selection, and specification preparation.
• Conduct field work for design investigation and construction observation.
• Prepare design layouts for commercial and industrial mechanical systems based on specific design objectives.
• Create schematics for various systems.
• Collaborate with all disciplines to achieve completed coordinated design and review the work of others.
• Perform on-site investigations to confirm existing conditions.
• Develop familiarity with current mechanical codes and standards.
• Form relationships with equal level personnel of other disciplines and manufacturing sales representatives.
• Prepare general and mechanical specifications.

Requirements

• Associate's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 3 years of on-the-job experience as a Mechanical Engineer/Designer or Electrical Engineer/Designer for building systems.
• Experience with AutoCAD & Revit producing construction documents for commercial building projects or retail projects.
• Knowledge of engineering calculations.
