About the position

The Mechanical Engineer at Salas O'Brien will be responsible for the engineering design, evaluation, and planning of mechanical systems across various market sectors, including healthcare, science & technology, education, and commercial projects. This role offers the opportunity to work on diverse projects while collaborating with senior engineers and other disciplines to ensure effective system design and compliance with relevant codes and standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering design, evaluation, and planning of mechanical systems for healthcare, science & technology, education, and commercial projects
• Perform Load/Energy calculations with software such as Trace 700, Carrier HAP, and similar programs
• Work with a senior engineer to conduct building surveys and documentation of existing HVAC systems
• Develop system design calculations and selection of equipment for use in buildings
• Write/edit project specifications
• Prepare detailed design documents, reports, and studies
• Conduct code compliance research
• Coordinate work with other disciplines
• Provide construction administration services

Requirements

• Minimum of 4 years of design experience
• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
• Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, and MS Office
• Familiarity with codes, standards, and design guidelines
• Excellent work ethic and attitude
• Good communication and time management skills
• Interpersonal communication skills, combined with organizational skills, the ability to plan, balance, and prioritize work

Nice-to-haves

• LEED certification/experience is a plus
• Experience with laboratories/medical facilities design is preferred
