About the position

The Pump Reliability Engineer at Buckeye is responsible for supporting operations and project managers in diagnosing and repairing pumps, developing critical spares programs, and ensuring the reliability of rotating equipment. This role involves performing hydraulic calculations, reviewing engineering drawings, and implementing reliability programs to enhance equipment performance and reduce downtime.

Responsibilities

  • Support operations with rotating equipment troubleshooting, retrofit, and system re-configuration.
  • Identify operational, mechanical, or hydraulic problems related to rotating equipment and propose repair or upgrade options.
  • Perform system hydraulic analysis and design using software and manual methods.
  • Be available for emergency response activities related to pumps and motors.
  • Manage contract service providers for repairs and upgrades to rotating equipment, including scope development and cost management.
  • Review project submissions for completeness and readiness, validating scopes and prioritizing risks.
  • Maintain contact with project managers throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring successful execution and closeout.
  • Review project designs to ensure correct equipment specification and identify hydraulic concerns.
  • Generate hydraulic pump and system calculations to ensure proper sizing for operations.
  • Audit pump vendors and repair shops for compliance with Buckeye standards.
  • Develop and implement rotating equipment reliability programs, including critical spares strategies and mean time between failure metrics.
  • Monitor equipment health and take proactive actions using ARPM tools.
  • Identify and manage existing rotating equipment Master Service Agreements (MSA).
  • Support the ARES department with KPI metrics and organizational communication.
  • Provide training to Buckeye personnel on hydraulic systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience in pump and hydraulic engineering in an operations setting.
  • Understanding of troubleshooting, commissioning, and capital improvements.
  • Familiarity with pipeline and terminal terminology and operations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of pipeline control systems and automation for field devices.
  • Experience in mentoring and enabling users through effective communication.
  • Ability to solve complex business and technical problems.
  • Familiarity with Pipeline and Terminal business or systems.
