About the position

Theoris Services is assisting our client in their search for a Manufacturing Engineer to add to their growing team located in Brighton, Michigan. This position is integral to the Mechanical Engineering team, focusing on the design of custom manufacturing systems that customers will purchase. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with other engineers, the Applications group, and Sales to devise optimal solutions that align with customer needs and budget constraints. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of feasibility studies, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA), testing protocols, and all processes involved in delivering a design and quote for purchase. In this role, the Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the quality, cost-effectiveness, and timeliness of designs. They will also ensure that all designs conform to specified requirements and standards. The engineer will need to obtain necessary subcontract support and quotations, which are crucial for project execution. Additionally, they will support proposals by writing proposal documentation and participate in the development of sales presentation strategies and materials. A thorough review and understanding of customer requirements and specifications will be essential to succeed in this position.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the quality, cost effectiveness and timeliness of designs.
  • Responsible for conformance to design specifications.
  • Obtain necessary subcontract support and quotations.
  • Support proposals in writing proposal documentation.
  • Participate in the development of sales presentation strategies and materials.
  • Review and completely understand customer requirements and specifications.

Requirements

  • 4+ years mechanical design experience
  • 4+ years experience working with motion control systems (robotics, gantry, conveyors, etc.)
  • Proficient with Solidworks 2018 and AutoCAD
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills, able to face clients
  • Demonstrated ability to come up with creative, outside-the-box solutions
