AECOM has a position available for a mid-career Mechanical Engineer to support our growing Energy Business Line. This role offers the freedom and flexibility to work remotely and/or be located at various Energy offices across the United States through our Freedom to Grow program. This program maximizes employee wellbeing and improves our sustainability goals while delivering the best solutions to our clients. We are committed to challenging the status quo and strengthening gender equity and inclusion in the workplace through a culture that works for both you and AECOM. Our team provides a wide range of mechanical engineering services across market sectors including oil and gas (upstream, midstream, and downstream refining), industrial processes (chemical, petrochemical, food and beverage), mining/bulk material handling, and future and renewable fuels (such as hydrogen, renewable natural gas, biogas, and carbon capture). The successful candidate is expected to be a detail-oriented, experienced engineer who can make decisions independently under the guidance of senior staff. This is an excellent career opportunity for an engineer with a strong technical background looking to grow into a project technical leadership role. The responsibilities of this role include the development of mechanical equipment and piping material specifications, producing calculations to inform design such as hydraulic modeling, pipe stress calculations, tank and pump sizing, and coordinating with the mechanical design team to direct the completion of engineering drawings. The role also involves multi-discipline collaboration on the development of equipment general arrangements, P&ID's, isometrics, asset and tie-in lists, and orthographic drawings. The engineer will attend client meetings and/or site field visits, work under limited supervision, and perform both routine and non-routine, complex design assignments that require judgment in resolving issues or making recommendations. Maintaining open communication with the project team regarding workload planning, task estimating, and budgeting is essential, as is working with Project Engineers and Project Managers on developing workload forecasts, design schedules, and budgets for electrical engineering work activities. The engineer will also create, update, and implement group-specific standards, prepare technical reports and presentations, interact with vendors, regulatory agencies, and contractors, and prepare project specifications and contract documents. Additionally, the engineer will check and verify work prepared by peers and apply strong knowledge of industry standards, guides, specifications, and procedures specific to working with US mechanical and industrial infrastructure, ensuring that technical and safety standards are maintained in all aspects of design work.
