About the position

The Mechanical Engineering Co-Op position at Analog Devices offers an opportunity for hands-on experience in a leading semiconductor company. Interns will work on meaningful projects within the Digital Healthcare Business Unit, focusing on the design and prototyping of medical devices and related technologies. This role emphasizes collaboration with cross-functional teams and aims to develop interns for potential full-time roles in the future.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the definition, design, and execution of high-fidelity mock-ups, prototypes, and test fixtures to test product and subsystem concepts.
  • Work with external vendors to source custom and off-the-shelf solutions for prototyping and testing.
  • Support growth and operation of DHC's in-house rapid prototyping capabilities.
  • Develop conceptual and detailed CAD to realize models and prototypes that inform the medical device design and development process.
  • Design and set-up experiments to investigate and down-select system architecture and detailed design paths.
  • Learn about medical device design and manufacturing regulations.

Requirements

  • Achieved an equivalent of a junior undergraduate pursuit or recent receipt of an Undergraduate or Graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Strong academic and practical lab/project achievement in dynamics, fluidics, and electro-mechanics.
  • Demonstrated hands-on prototyping and empirical evaluation skills.
  • Confidence in CAD and CA Analysis skills with a desire to grow them.
  • Strong teamwork, inter-personal, and communication skills coupled with a demonstrated ability to work at a high level of performance.
  • High levels of motivation and creativity, with an outgoing, positive attitude, and inquisitive nature.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with operating consumer grade or entry level professional grade 3D printers (FDM/SLA/MJP).
  • Active interest in 3D printing and other rapid prototyping techniques and technologies.
