About the position

The Mechanical Engineering Co-Op position at AAM offers students the opportunity to engage in research and development activities within a leading automotive drive train supplier. This role focuses on supporting strategic product development initiatives, participating in engineering design projects, and assisting in the design, development, and validation processes. The position is ideal for candidates passionate about automotive engineering and design, who excel academically and demonstrate strong communication and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Participate in R&D activities and support strategic product development initiatives.
• Assist in leading engineering design projects, including design, development, and validation processes with the lead engineer.
• Support product benchmarking analysis by disassembling automotive drive train components and coordinating metallurgical analysis.
• Assist with engineering calculations related to the design of automotive drive train components.
• Coordinate prototype builds to meet delivery schedules.
• Manage time effectively to accomplish project planning, cost, and timing details.
• Acquire knowledge of the department and its operations.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.

Requirements

• Must be enrolled in an undergraduate Mechanical Engineering program with a graduation date of August 2025 or later.
• A Grade Point Average of 3.0 or higher preferred.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• High attention to detail and accuracy of information.
• Computer proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and the ability to learn other programs.
