About the position

The Mechanical Engineering Intern position at Kingsbury, Inc. offers a 10-week summer internship program designed for students pursuing an engineering degree. Interns will gain practical experience by working on relevant projects within the Engineering Department, utilizing state-of-the-art equipment, and participating in in-house training. The role involves assisting mechanical engineers in various tasks related to bearing application, design, analysis, and testing, while also providing opportunities for professional development and collaboration across departments.

Responsibilities

  • Assist mechanical engineers in bearing application, design, analysis, hardware testing, and laboratory research.
  • Perform advanced operational and mechanical analysis of bearings using analysis codes such as ANSYS.
  • Engage in CAD design of custom bearings and conduct performance analysis.
  • Collaborate with Sales and Manufacturing Departments to ensure a positive workflow of information.
  • Work with the Quality Department to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Prepare and deliver a formal presentation of project work at the conclusion of the internship.
  • Maintain effective working relationships within the Engineering Department.

Requirements

  • Completed sophomore or junior year of an engineering degree from an accredited university or college.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated interest in design and analysis through school projects and hobbies.
  • Hands-on mechanical aptitude.
  • Proficiency with MS Office tools.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Autodesk Inventor or ANSYS.
