About the position

The Mechanical Engineering Internship at United Launch Alliance (ULA) offers students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the aerospace industry. Interns will work closely with experienced engineers, contributing to various projects related to flight hardware analysis, design, and development. This role is designed for students pursuing a degree in a STEM field, providing exposure to real-world engineering challenges and the chance to participate in the mission of launching rockets and supporting space exploration.

Responsibilities

  • Perform analysis on existing flight hardware and assist in the design and development of future hardware.
  • Conduct data analysis and work on methodology improvement projects.
  • Participate in software improvement projects and trade studies.
  • Create or modify tool designs and process corrective actions for non-conformances.
  • Maintain production work instructions and manage supplier relationships.
  • Support experienced engineers in various assignments and shadow operations.

Requirements

  • Completed sophomore year of college or university by the time of the summer internship assignment.
  • Minimum college GPA of 2.90 on a 4.00 scale at the time of application.
  • Valid driver's license and motorized vehicle transportation for certain locations.
  • Actively pursuing a bachelor's degree in a STEM field from an accredited institution.
  • Ability to work full-time for a minimum of 10 weeks during the Summer of 2025.
  • Working knowledge of basic engineering application tools like NX, NASTRAN, SolidWorks, Mathcad, and CREO.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint).
  • Effective presentation, written communication, and verbal communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with engineering application tools and software.
  • Familiarity with aerospace engineering principles.
