About the position

As the Mechanical Engineering Manager at Anduril Industries, you will lead a team of mechanical design and analysis engineers focused on solid rocket motor (SRM) programs. This role involves providing technical leadership, overseeing engineering work, and managing personnel. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in the design, analysis, and manufacture of solid rocket motors and their subsystems, and will be a proactive leader who fosters team development and collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership to mechanical design engineers in the Rocket Motor Systems organization.
  • Implement and enforce current policies and procedures, and develop new ones as needed.
  • Act as a front-line people manager for a team of mechanical design engineers.
  • Peer review engineering product definitions, structural and thermal analyses.
  • Coordinate with other engineering disciplines on cross-disciplinary items.
  • Establish best practices for the RMS Hardware organization.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 10 years' experience with the design, development, and manufacture of solid rocket motors.
  • Strong technical background in mechanical design, structural analysis, or thermal analysis.
  • Strong people management skills.
  • Exceptional research and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to travel to other Anduril sites, customer sites, or supplier sites as business demand dictates (anticipated 10-25% travel).
  • Ability to obtain and hold a U.S. Top Secret Security Clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced degree (masters or doctorate) in engineering or engineering management.
  • Experience with Solidworks CAD software and/or Abaqus FEA software.
  • Certification in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
  • Expertise in engineering tool development in Microsoft Excel, MATLAB, and/or Python.
