About the position

The Mechanical Engineering Project Manager is responsible for overseeing project financial performance and team communication across multiple projects. This role involves developing project scopes, schedules, and budgets, while ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget. The position requires a high degree of creativity and the ability to manage both large and small projects from conceptual design to construction, while maintaining strong client relationships and ensuring adherence to design intent.

Responsibilities

  • Manage large and small projects from conceptual design to construction.
  • Promote positive client contact and develop trust with clients.
  • Review project costs and budgets, ensuring adherence to schedule.
  • Track outstanding proposals and secure signed proposals and notices to proceed.
  • Communicate proactively with client representatives regarding design requirements and project progress.
  • Perform site visit surveys to evaluate existing systems and create solutions.
  • Visit project sites during construction for quality and compliance reviews.
  • Meet with municipal officials to coordinate variances.
  • Work with Specification Writer on product research and material selection.
  • Deliver quality projects on budget and on time.
  • Guide the development of BIM/Revit tools to improve productivity.
  • Improve analytic processes and documentation for engineering design.
  • Ensure overall design intent is incorporated into documentation.
  • Collaborate with Architectural Project Manager on document production strategy.
  • Mentor and direct less experienced staff, participating in evaluations and lessons learned sessions.
  • Participate in business development and prepare project presentations and fee estimates.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering
  • Licensed PE
  • 10 years of project engineering experience from concept to opening
  • Experience in leading or working in integrated teams
  • Experience with healthcare, government, education, and commercial projects
  • Experience with architecturally significant buildings
  • Proficient in Deltek Vision
  • LEED credential is a plus
  • Must maintain a minimum of 8 hours of continuing education annually in relevant topics.
