About the position

The Propulsion/Ordnance/Controls Engineer at Lockheed Martin Space will lead design activities related to propulsion systems, including requirements allocation, concept evaluations, and analyses. This role involves coordinating with various stakeholders, mentoring junior engineers, and supporting launch operations. The engineer will be responsible for the design, manufacture, procurement, and testing of propulsion system components, ensuring that all requirements are met and integrated effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design activities for propulsion systems including requirements allocation and concept evaluations.
  • Coordinate with customers, suppliers, and test facilities for propulsion system components.
  • Mentor and train junior propulsion engineers across various programs.
  • Perform independent reviews for propulsion architecture and design.
  • Support launch operations including functional testing of hardware and systems.
  • Develop design solutions for complex propellant management strategies.
  • Review requirements from various sources to ensure they are integrated into the design.
  • Support manufacturing and test anomaly investigations.

Requirements

  • Proficient with 1st order analysis in fluids, statics and dynamics, heat transfer/thermal.
  • Expertise in advanced fluid behaviors, including surface tension and slosh.
  • Experience with aerospace flight hardware design, analysis, manufacture, or test and integration.
  • Ability to lead an Integrated Product Team (IPT).
  • Experience working with procurement and outside suppliers, including Cost Account Management (CAM).
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and customers simultaneously.
  • Ability to drive hardware production activities through delivery to the program.
  • Willingness to mentor junior engineers.
  • US Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

  • Experience developing advanced technological ideas into final products.
  • Experience serving as organization spokesperson on advanced projects.
  • Hardware experience including design, analysis, assembly, integration, and test.
  • Knowledgeable at a systems level in stress, propulsion, harness routing, and launch operations.
  • Experience developing Proposal documents and Basis of Estimates (BOE's).
  • Experience with supply chain management and subcontracts.
  • Experience leading a group or team.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication and presentation skills.
