About the position

EMCOR Construction Services Midwest (ECS) is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team in Fort Wayne, IN. In this role, you will collaborate with the mechanical design team to support the design of mechanical and plumbing systems, primarily focusing on projects for Educational and Government entities. Your contributions will be vital in providing engineering support for energy conservation strategies and MEP construction projects, working under the guidance of an experienced Mechanical Project Engineer or Senior Project Engineer. As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for performing HVAC load calculations and plumbing calculations to analyze building systems. You will conduct field investigations to assess existing systems, layouts, and drawings, ensuring that all designs meet the necessary codes and standards. Your role will also involve assisting in the sizing of equipment using selection software and coordinating with vendors to ensure the best solutions are implemented. You will generate HVAC and plumbing plans and perform drafting tasks utilizing AutoCAD, while also coordinating the design with other disciplines such as Architectural, Civil, Structural, and Fire Protection. Additionally, you will assist in developing and generating details and schedules, conduct building audits, and analyze existing systems to identify areas for improvement. Your ability to solidify complete solutions and provide clarity through design will be essential to the success of our projects.

Responsibilities

  • Perform HVAC load calculations on buildings for analysis.
  • Perform plumbing calculations on the buildings for analysis.
  • Conduct field investigations for systems, layout, drawings, etc.
  • Assist in sizing equipment through selection software and vendor coordination.
  • Generate HVAC and plumbing plans and perform drafting utilizing AutoCAD.
  • Coordinate design of additional disciplines such as Architectural, Civil, Structural, Fire Protection, etc.
  • Assist in developing and generating Details & Schedules.
  • Assist with building audits and analysis of existing systems.
  • Become and remain familiar with Codes and Standards.
  • Assist the team in solidifying complete solutions and provide clarity through design.

Requirements

  • 4-7 years of experience in the HVACR industry with a Mechanical/HVAC Engineering background.
  • Proficient use of AutoCAD, Word, Excel, and Trace 700.
  • Experience with other system design software.
  • Experience with Adobe Pro, Bluebeam, or similar programs preferred.
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or similar accredited Engineering Technology program required.
  • Active driver license status is a must.
