As a Mechanical Inspector, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that mechanical systems in new and existing buildings comply with the mechanical codes adopted by Pueblo County and the City of Pueblo, Colorado. Your primary responsibility will be to visit various construction sites to inspect the installation of mechanical systems, including vents and ducts, heating and air conditioning equipment, gas piping, and gas-fired and oil-fired appliances. This position requires a keen eye for detail and a thorough understanding of mechanical codes to ensure that all installations meet safety and regulatory standards. In this role, you will prepare detailed written reports documenting your inspections and maintain accurate records of the work performed. You will work under the general direction of the Chief Mechanical Inspector, who will provide guidance and oversight as needed. Your expertise will also be called upon to aid architects, engineers, and contractors in resolving mechanical component issues and designs, ensuring that all parties are aligned with the applicable codes. Additionally, you will be responsible for reviewing all relevant mechanical codes and providing interpretations and recommendations to ensure compliance with the intent of each code. This may involve verifying alternate methods of construction and ensuring that they meet the necessary standards. Your work will be vital in maintaining the safety and integrity of mechanical systems within the community.
