Mechanical Maintenance Apprentice

About the position

Cleveland-Cliffs is seeking Mechanical Maintenance Apprentices for an 18-month state-certified training program at their Coshocton, Ohio plant. Apprentices will gain hands-on experience and classroom training, ultimately obtaining a mechanical maintenance journeyman license upon successful completion of the program.

Responsibilities

• Attend 600+ hours of classroom training along with on-the-job training during the 18 month program
• Maintain operating and service equipment using standard and specialized tools and equipment
• May work alone or assist in performing mechanical repairs and preventive maintenance as required
• Be responsive to maintenance calls and troubleshoot mechanical issues as they occur
• Provide assistance with operating functions as necessary
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Meet minimum assessment standards to be enrolled in a state certified mechanical maintenance apprenticeship program
• Demonstrated commitment to safety and quality
• Ability to read, understand, and follow operating instructions and procedure manuals
• Effective communication (verbal and written), math and measurement skills
• Willingness and availability to work rotating shifts 24 hours a day, seven days a week including holidays

Nice-to-haves

• 2+ years of relevant work experience
• Solid understanding of mechanical maintenance principles
