About the position

Genesis Alkali is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join our team in Green River, Wyoming. As the world's largest natural soda ash mine and production site, we pride ourselves on offering a secure and diverse range of high-quality products. The Mechanical Maintenance Engineer will play a crucial role in supporting daily mechanical maintenance activities, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and optimizing our predictive and preventive maintenance programs. This position requires a strong understanding of mechanical systems and the ability to analyze and improve equipment performance. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining plant technical data, drawings, and documentation, as well as reviewing and managing equipment spare parts inventory. You will provide recommendations for best practices to enhance our maintenance programs and will be involved in executing plant improvement projects. Additionally, you will perform root cause failure analysis for unplanned equipment failures and generate actionable items to prevent recurrence. Your expertise will also be needed in providing mechanical engineering support for capital project implementations and modifications to our facilities. The Mechanical Maintenance Engineer will work closely with various teams, including the capital engineering group, to support project reviews and major equipment overhauls. You will also interface with outside vendors to improve process and equipment reliability, provide monthly KPI updates, and conduct training as necessary. This position may require covering weekend duty and off-shift responsibilities as requested, making flexibility an important aspect of the role.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates safety leadership and understanding of safety regulations
  • Support daily mechanical maintenance activities and problem solving
  • Maintain plant technical data, drawings, and documentation
  • Review and maintain equipment spare parts inventory and stocking strategies
  • Provide recommendations and identify best practices to optimize the predictive/preventive maintenance program
  • Identify, support, and execute plant improvement projects
  • Perform root cause failure analysis for unplanned equipment failures and generate action items to prevent reoccurrence
  • Originate, perform, and support Management of Change (MOC) requests
  • Provide mechanical engineering support for capital project implementations and modifications to facilities
  • Maintain and advise on mechanical conveyance, kilns/calciners, pumping systems, and other mineral processing equipment
  • Make equipment recommendations to improve machine performance based on failure data, bad actor reviews, operator/maintainer feedback, and OEM guidance
  • Standardize and optimize spare parts inventory, stock management and coordination of the ordering of spares in conjunction with the Maintenance Planners and warehouse personnel
  • Support the capital engineering group in project reviews, and Venture Manager projects as needed for installations and major equipment overhauls
  • Perform failure analysis and data collection of equipment failures
  • Provide engineering support for plant improvement projects
  • Provide monthly KPI and key project updates
  • Perform preventative maintenance (PM) field reviews and generate recommendations
  • Attend or conduct training as needed
  • Support ISO 9000 efforts
  • Cover weekend duty and off-shift responsibilities as requested

Requirements

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent B.S. degree
  • 3+ years maintenance or plant engineering experience strongly preferred
  • Industrial background, equipment troubleshooting, and reliability experience preferred
