About the position

The Mechanical Maintenance & Reliability Engineer is responsible for ensuring the mechanical reliability of fixed and rotating equipment within a specific area of the plant. This role involves compliance with Process Safety Management (PSM), conducting inspections, making engineering repair recommendations, and managing equipment procurement and installations. The engineer will work collaboratively with operations and other departments to maintain equipment in optimal condition and lead initiatives to improve reliability and efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for Process Safety Management (PSM) compliance related to mechanical integrity and engineering design.
  • Conduct periodic inspections of equipment and assist in maintenance and modifications.
  • Provide maintenance and engineering repair recommendations for stationary and rotating equipment.
  • Collaborate with operations to maintain equipment in excellent working condition.
  • Lead root cause analysis for equipment failures.
  • Manage engineering and procurement specifications for equipment.
  • Act as project manager for equipment repairs and new installations.
  • Supervise engineering support during unit inspections and maintenance turnarounds.
  • Provide technical assistance and written instructions to production and process engineering departments.
  • Stay updated with technical developments in the field through study and seminars.
  • Ensure compliance with integrated management systems regarding safety and quality requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with team members and assist in achieving company goals.
  • Participate in Environmental, Health, & Safety initiatives and complete required training.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years of maintenance and/or reliability experience in a petrochemical or refining facility preferred.
  • Experience in creating preventative maintenance procedures to ensure maximum unit uptime.
  • Familiarity with predictive maintenance programs including Thermal Scanning and Vibration Analysis.
  • Experience leading Risk Based Maintenance assessments on critical equipment is a plus.
  • Knowledge of risk-based work prioritization methodology.
  • Understanding of economic evaluation methods such as Life-Cycle Cost Analysis.
  • Knowledge in Reliability Centered Maintenance or Asset Management Plan Development is desired.
  • Experience with reliability-focused statistical analysis is desired.
  • Basic understanding of engineering, purchasing, accounting, and construction practices.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.
  • Willingness to learn on the job.
