About the position

Ergon Resinall Corp in Hattiesburg, MS is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Technician I to join our team. The Mechanical Maintenance Technician I will play a crucial role in supporting the repair and service of rotating and other mechanical-related equipment. This position is essential for maintaining the operational efficiency of our facilities and ensuring that all mechanical systems are functioning optimally. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining a safe and organized workspace, adhering to safety protocols at all times. The role requires a proactive approach to developing good working relationships with co-workers, customers, and associates. The technician will assist in various maintenance tasks, including the repair and maintenance of steam systems, installation and maintenance of instrument tubing, and troubleshooting mechanical-related problems. Additionally, the technician will be involved in the alignment of pumps and other equipment, documentation of service and repairs, and the operation of various tools and equipment. This position requires a commitment to preventive maintenance and continuous improvement in maintenance practices. The technician will also be available for call-outs as scheduled by the Maintenance Department and will work closely with more experienced technicians to ensure compliance with safety and operational standards. The Mechanical Maintenance Technician I will be expected to complete CMMS work orders accurately and maintain a high level of professionalism in all interactions.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a clean and well-organized workspace at all times

  • Assist in repair and maintenance of steam systems
  • Assist in installation and maintenance of instrument tubing
  • Assist in repair of all types of rotating and other mechanical-related equipment
  • Assist in troubleshooting mechanical-related problems
  • Assist in alignment of pumps and other equipment
  • Properly document all service and repairs
  • Assist with repairing conveyor belts
  • Assist in installation of small-bore screw-pipe jobs
  • Assist in cleaning of tanks
  • Assist in cleanup of spills
  • Operate forklift for transport of equipment as needed
  • Grease chain couplings
  • Operate a bandsaw
  • Grease electric motors
  • Perform bolting procedures
  • Install PVC pipe and fittings
  • Operate a scissor lift
  • Operate a manlift
  • Maintain the grounds (general cleaning, organize surplus parts / equipment, etc.)
  • Perform preventive maintenance and work to continually improve preventive maintenance
  • Available for call-out when scheduled by Maintenance Department
  • All Mechanical Tech I employees will be paired with a Mechanical Tech III or higher while performing permitted work
  • Available for call-out when assistance is needed
  • Complete CMMS work orders accurately

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Must have an >80 % average score on the Work Keys evaluation
  • Must have successfully completed and passed a Functional Job Capacity Evaluation(FCE)
  • Knowledge of preventative maintenance programs is beneficial
  • Valid driver's license must be maintained
  • Strong communication skills required
  • Computer proficiency
