About the position

As a Mechanical Manufacturing Engineer in the Supply Chain Organization at Google, you will play a crucial role in providing manufacturing support and guidance for Google's packaging and electro-mechanical products. Your primary responsibilities will include identifying and qualifying advanced manufacturing techniques, as well as providing Design for Excellence (DFX) feedback. You will be involved in performing design for manufacturability and assembly, as well as conducting design for cost analyses for various components such as sheet metal, plastic injection molded parts, metal stamped components, and electro-mechanical assemblies. In this position, you will also be tasked with identifying and qualifying contract manufacturers and vendors for precision sheet metal, high-volume metal stamping, plastic injection molding, tooling, and level 3 electro-mechanical assemblies. Your role will require you to provide comprehensive mechanical manufacturing engineering support to global manufacturing partners, ensuring that any manufacturing and field issues are resolved effectively. This may involve escalating design, manufacturing, and product test issues when appropriate. Additionally, you will drive process improvements aimed at reducing process cycle times and costs while maintaining high-quality standards. Utilizing the product data management system, you will create and maintain bills of materials, approved vendor lists, and engineering change notifications/orders in support of Google products. This position is integral to the Technical Infrastructure team, which is responsible for developing and maintaining data centers and building the next generation of Google platforms, ensuring that users have the best and fastest experience possible.
