About the position

The Mechanical Packaging Mechanic at Packaging Corporation of America (PCA) is responsible for building, maintaining, and repairing packaging machines, ensuring operational efficiency and customer satisfaction. This role involves working closely with a team to troubleshoot and service equipment at both PCA facilities and customer locations, contributing to the company's mission of delivering high-quality packaging solutions.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of tasks to design, manufacture, troubleshoot, repair, rebuild, and replace mechanical and electrical components on packaging equipment both at our facility and customer locations nationwide.
• Work as part of a team in a manufacturing/production operations with a goal of increasing productivity, reducing downtime and waste.
• Follow all company safety rules and lock-out tag-out procedures.
• Work with a sense of urgency to reduce client downtime.
• Develop a close relationship with customers to aid in process of becoming preferred supplier.

Requirements

• Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
• One-year steady work history in a maintenance role and/or technical certification.
• Be passionate about maintaining a safe work environment.
• Ability to work on call, weekends and overtime as required.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with packaging machinery such as tray pack HSCs and DRCs.
• Technical certification in mechanical or electrical maintenance.
