About the position

The Mechanical Piping Engineer at Schiavone is responsible for overseeing the installation and maintenance of mechanical systems related to pump stations and tunneling projects. This role involves coordinating with various stakeholders, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and providing technical guidance to the project team. The engineer will also conduct inspections, maintain documentation, and facilitate training sessions for staff.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the mechanical team on-site, including subcontractors, ensuring adherence to project schedules and budgets.
  • Oversee the installation and maintenance of mechanical systems related to pump stations and tunneling and piping equipment.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment on project goals and requirements.
  • Conduct regular inspections to monitor progress, identify issues, and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and promote a safety-first culture among the team.
  • Review and approve mechanical designs, shop drawings, and submittals.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to the project team, resolving mechanical issues as they arise.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of work performed, including reports on progress, changes, and challenges.
  • Conduct training sessions for staff on equipment operation and safety protocols.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (preferred) or equivalent experience in heavy civil construction.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in construction, particularly in pump station, shaft work or tunneling projects.
  • Experience with flanged piping/large diameter piping work.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, installation processes, and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with relevant safety and environmental regulations.
