About the position
The Mechanical Process Engineer will provide engineering support services at the Savannah River Site, focusing on engineering analysis, design development, and the generation of various design output documents. This role is critical in ensuring compliance with engineering standards and codes, particularly in the nuclear and process chemical industries.
Responsibilities
- Provide engineering analysis and design development for mechanical systems.
- Generate design output documents including Process Flow, Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams, and System Descriptions.
- Create Mechanical Equipment Lists and specifications for equipment, pipes, and valves.
- Conduct Failure Analysis and Accident Analysis as required.
- Perform Finite Element Analysis and Pipe Stress Analysis.
- Design material handling and fire protection systems.
- Review vendor documents and ensure compliance with ASME Code requirements.
Requirements
- BS Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or current registration as a Professional Engineer in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.
- Five years of design experience in the nuclear or process chemical industry.
- Knowledge of ASME B31.3 code requirements.
- Ability to walk-down systems in the field.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with 2D MicroStation Computer-Aided Drafting and Design (CADD).
