About the position

The Mechanical Production Technician role involves hands-on work in repairing and maintaining mechanical systems and components. The technician will be responsible for troubleshooting various mechanical and electrical systems, ensuring safety and efficiency in operations, and maintaining a clean work environment. This position requires a strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to work under pressure while adhering to safety protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Inspection and planning before starting a new project.
  • Tear down of existing mechanical systems to make necessary repairs.
  • Repair of machine components, as necessary.
  • Replacement of machine components, as necessary.
  • Modification of existing systems, components, or structures, as necessary.
  • Installation of new or rebuilt components.
  • Rebuild components or assemblies, as necessary.
  • Troubleshooting and problem solving a variety of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, fluid dispensing, pneumatic, diesel engine, and general industrial environment applications, systems, and circuits.
  • Completion of necessary inventory paperwork and adherence to inventory/warehouse best practices.
  • Utilize prints, drawings, schematics, manuals, etc. in order to facilitate necessary repair, assembly, and troubleshooting.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work environment.
  • Handle shop tools and infrastructures with care.
  • Over Head Crane operation.
  • Forklift operation.
  • Identify and escalate safety issues.
  • Understand the inner workings of equipment systems, circuits, and components.
  • Understand the function of the equipment.
  • Inbound/outbound equipment inspections.
  • Picking & packing parts orders as arranged by Operations Manager.

Requirements

  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to submit to random drug & alcohol tests.
  • Understanding of general warehouse safety.
  • Ability to work on a team and adapt to changing demands.
  • Positive attitude and common sense.
  • Ability to lift up to 80 lbs. and climb on/under machines.
  • Experience with heavy equipment repair.
  • Knowledge & proper use of hand tools.
  • Understanding of general repair facility safety practices and LOTO procedures.

Nice-to-haves

  • Welding/fabrication skills are a plus.
  • Desired knowledge/skills include hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, mechanical troubleshooting, and diesel engines.
  • Ability to interpret schematics.
