About the position

The Mechanical Project Engineer will be responsible for managing a portfolio of multi-discipline projects at the ConocoPhillips Norsea Terminal in Teesside. This role involves overseeing the development and execution of projects from initial definition through to construction and commissioning, ensuring compliance with site standards and legislative requirements. Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the development and on-time execution of a portfolio of multi-discipline projects predominantly mechanically biased.
  • Manage projects from definition through to front-end engineering, HAZOP, Detailed Design, Construction & Commissioning.
  • Provide overall Project Management and liaise with stakeholders affected by the project.
  • Control modifications and changes through the management of change process in compliance with site standards.
  • Analyze problems and provide technical input to drive appropriate solutions.
  • Liaise with the relevant Technical Authority on issues and deviation requests, developing technical specifications.
  • Responsible for Project Cost Control, schedule attainment, and forecasting.
  • Conduct audits and readiness reviews to ensure compliance with project delivery processes.
  • Proactively manage stakeholders and chair project meetings.
  • Support the preparation of tenders and participate in bid analysis for key packages of work.
  • Develop cost estimates and submit formal funding requests.
  • Drive continuous improvement in shutdown delivery models.
  • Participate in safety and design reviews and risk assessments.
  • Attend FATs and provide quality assurance for construction activities.
  • Support completions with technical reviews and punchlisting of modifications.

Requirements

  • Strong project engineering and technical background in mechanical discipline.
  • Degree educated in relevant Engineering Discipline (preferably chartered status).
  • Demonstrable understanding of other engineering disciplines such as Instrument, Electrical, Piping, Static Vessels, Civil, Asset Integrity and Rotating.
  • Experience managing and safely delivering small to medium scale multi-disciplined projects.
  • Knowledge of shutdowns or unit overhauls is beneficial.
  • Extensive Engineering & Maintenance experience in Oil & Gas, Petro-Chemical or other regulated industries.
  • Familiarity with relevant legislative requirements such as CDM, Temporary Works, ATEX, Electricity at Work Regulations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Flexible and adaptable with a positive approach to work.
  • Ability to function well within a team environment.
  • Demonstrable leadership skills and experience.
  • Effective time and workload management skills.
  • Ability to use Microsoft packages.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of shutdowns or unit overhauls would be beneficial.
