About the position

The Electrical/Instrumentation Project Engineering Discipline Lead is responsible for leading a team of discipline engineers and designers, providing technical direction, mentorship, and aiding in workload leveling. This influential leadership position does not have direct reports but involves acting as an engineer on capital projects, particularly as the lead discipline engineer on large projects. The role requires a deep understanding of code requirements, industry best practices, and internal standards, and is accountable for all aspects of department performance including Safety & Environment, Quality, Reliability, Production, and Productivity.

Responsibilities

  • Complete all items for successful project execution communicating scope, cost, and schedule.
  • Participate in C2 process with direct supervisor.
  • Provide feedback on discipline engineers and designers to direct supervisor.
  • Organize training for team members relevant to discipline needs.
  • Create and maintain a team atmosphere with effective communication to complete projects.
  • Maintain site engineering documentation systems including record prints, engineering drawings, and SAP maintenance system data.
  • Provide technical expertise and personal responsibility to complete and sign off on tasks on the MOC form.
  • Report and communicate to Project leaders in a timely fashion on all relevant project activities.
  • Lead site NWGs and regulatory committees.
  • Coordinate with team leaders on resource needs and workload distribution.
  • Provide technical engineering assistance to the site regarding HSC specifications, governing codes, and their interpretations.

Requirements

  • B.S. in electrical, mechanical, or chemical engineering aligned with the discipline.
  • 10+ years of work experience related to this position.
  • Influential management skills.
  • Written and oral communication skills.
  • Computer skills using Sharepoint, Windows, e-mail (Microsoft Outlook), word processing (Microsoft Word), spreadsheets (Microsoft Excel), and relational database software (Access).
  • Project planning and execution knowledge.
