About the position

The Mechanical Project Manager will oversee Filed Sub Mechanical Projects and General Contractor Mechanical Projects for a Boston-based general contractor with a long-standing history. This role involves managing project scope, documentation, and communication with various stakeholders while ensuring adherence to quality and safety standards. The position emphasizes a healthy work/life balance and requires reliable transportation due to project locations around the Boston area.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct project kick-off meetings with internal and external partners.
  • Manage project buy-out including subcontractors and purchase orders.
  • Ensure full understanding of project scope per drawings, plans, and specifications.
  • Organize and plan project activities effectively.
  • Manage all project documents and ensure proper flow of information between office and field personnel.
  • Obtain necessary permits for project execution.
  • Coordinate project administration with APM or Project Engineer as applicable.
  • Monitor material expediting with project engineer.
  • Maintain formal correspondence with owners and architects, including RFIs.
  • Ensure daily communication with owners and site supervisors/foremen.
  • Assist project engineer with shop drawing approvals and quality control programs.
  • Conduct job site visits and attend onsite job meetings as needed.
  • Facilitate weekly subcontractor/vendor coordination meetings and progress meetings with owners/architects.
  • Produce project status reports and conduct inspections as required by the quality control program.
  • Review job site-initiated correspondence and enforce decisions to meet project objectives.
  • Oversee project close-out processes including As-builts, O&M's, and warranty documentation.
  • Monitor cost and performance projections, collaborating with Finance on WIP/cost to complete.
  • Establish and execute project budgets, reviewing weekly labor reports and maintaining labor projections.
  • Approve subcontractor requisitions and project vendor invoices.
  • Maintain change request logs and control changes, notifying field staff of approved changes.
  • Prepare monthly owner billing and assist with cash flow management.
  • Conduct estimate and wage reviews with superintendents and assist them in achieving job goals.
  • Manage all onsite labor including subcontractors.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience as a Project Manager.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience.
  • Valid Massachusetts driver's license.
  • OSHA 30 safety certification required.
  • In-depth knowledge of the construction process.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience with Procore and Bluebeam software.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products.
