About the position

LOOPLLC has a full-time, exempt opening for a Mechanical Reliability Engineer. The position provides mechanical engineering support to ensure mechanical process equipment is designed, installed, operated and maintained to achieve maximum life of the equipment. The successful candidate will apply technical knowledge to deliver continuous improvement in principles and problem-solving techniques in asset reliability through the detection and elimination of defects, performs condition monitoring, troubleshooting, root cause failure analysis, and identifies short and long-term improvement opportunities. The position requires routine field visits supporting ongoing maintenance activities working closely with Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering personnel to monitor asset reliability results and address issues hindering reliability. The position provides mechanical engineering, reliability, and process subject matter expertise developing and deploying reliability improvements with a focus on long term asset health. The successful candidate will be a self-motivated, team oriented member of the centralized maintenance team. The centralized maintenance team is responsible for implementing effective Asset Management practices across multiple operating facilities in southeastern Louisiana, spanning from offshore Gulf of Mexico to St. James, Louisiana. The centralized maintenance team routinely works with Operations, Engineering, and other groups, to ensure LOOP is delivering a reliable service to customers through dependable equipment, and focuses on continuous improvement of processes, policies, and standards related to asset management. The position will be located in either Covington, LA or Galliano, LA and will require travel to operational facilities 40% to 50% of the time.

Responsibilities

  • Technical resource for mechanical process equipment working with operations, maintenance, and other groups to ensure reliability of equipment.
  • Develop operations process knowledge required for effective troubleshooting and problem solving.
  • Provide technical field support for equipment installation and commissioning activities.
  • Routine evaluation and validation of stored spare parts.
  • Responsible for the equipment repair, inspection, and acceptance testing standards and procedures supporting facility operation activities.
  • Provides equipment repair and replacement recommendations in support of facility operation, and leads critical equipment repairs, providing technical oversight and overall repair coordination and tracking.
  • Primary resource for site inspections and witnessing critical equipment repairs and testing.
  • Defines requirements and specifications for equipment and components ensuring on reliability, performance, and configuration.
  • Provide technical support to the preventive maintenance and predictive maintenance program.
  • Be familiar with predictive maintenance technologies, such as vibration, thermography, ultrasound, and oil analysis.
  • Support predictive monitoring processes and procedures by periodically reviewing information and recommending adjustments based on changes in operating context or equipment criticality.
  • Perform equipment failure analysis using equipment monitoring data, field and shop/tear down assessments to prevent reoccurrence and to improve equipment functionality extended useful life.
  • Identifies and resolves chronic equipment failures by analyzing maintenance data and addressing negative equipment reliability trends.
  • Provide maintenance and reliability expertise for selection and installation of new equipment supporting project execution.
  • Provide prioritized asset assessments that support 5-year project planning.
  • Ensures mechanical designs comply with required specifications, installation criteria, and safety standards, and are implemented with consideration to system configuration and operational requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university is required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in relevant industrial experience in maintenance/reliability or related work.
  • Ability to use failure analysis technique (i.e. root cause analysis) to determine and correct equipment problems.
  • Experience in troubleshooting and analysis of mechanical systems and equipment.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written), and problem-solving ability.
  • Proficient computer skills, with good working knowledge of all standard company applications (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Experience using CMMS programs.
  • Must be able to communicate to all levels of local management and to other departments to explain problems and proposed solutions.
  • Experience writing Technical documents.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP) preferred but not required.
  • Predictive maintenance technologies experience including oil analysis, vibration, ultrasound, thermography, etc. is preferred.
