About the position

The Mechanical/Structural Engineer position at Fluor Marine Propulsion involves designing and analyzing a steam generator as part of the VIRGINIA Class modernization effort. The role focuses on ensuring the structural and thermal hydraulic acceptability of the design, preparing it for manufacturing and fleet insertion. This position offers the opportunity to collaborate with various teams across the Naval Nuclear Laboratory, contributing to the safety and reliability of naval nuclear reactors.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural analysis in support of the steam generator design development.
• Interface with diverse groups across the lab, including future power plant projects and BPMI.
• Contribute to the design, analysis, and qualification of the steam generator for manufacturing and fleet insertion.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or science related field and 4 years of relevant experience; or a Master's degree and 2 years of relevant experience; or currently or previously NPE qualified; or CTE/ACRS with 1 year EOOW qualified in the Nuclear Operations Program; or Watch Instructor and Refueling Facility Area Refueling Engineer with 1 year as SRE.
