About the position

The Mechanical Support Technician at Caterpillar Inc. is responsible for performing preventive maintenance and lubrication on machines and equipment in the machine shop, with a focus on chip and coolant handling systems. This role involves assisting Machine Repairmen with various tasks and autonomously handling minor mechanical repairs and process duties.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance and lubrication on machines and equipment in the machine shop.
• Focus on service level for chip and coolant handling systems.
• Assist Machine Repairmen with various 'two persons' tasks on equipment.
• Autonomously perform minor mechanical repairs such as unplugging sluices, replacing way wipers, and eliminating leaks.

Requirements

• Understanding of basic welding and cutting skills.
• Knowledge of lubrication principles and pipefitting.
• Previous experience with preventive maintenance in an industrial environment on CNC machine tools, conveyors, robots, and/or coolant systems.
• Basic electrical skills and print reading ability.
• Thorough understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics, and lubrication systems.
