About the position

The Mechanical System Engineer at Magna Powertrain will be responsible for the integration and coordination of mechanical systems within engineering projects. This role involves developing and implementing mechanical system concepts and designs, ensuring alignment with project objectives, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet technical requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate technical customer and stakeholder requirements for geometrical integration topics based on section cuts, 3D PDFs and benchmark photos.
  • Define the mechanical system concept and architecture of products in alignment with the System Architect, product line, subsystems, and building blocks.
  • Set up the schematics for standard mechanic architecture for Hybrid and Electric based on section cuts, CAD data and presentations.
  • Allocate and break down mechanical system requirements to Sub Project (SP) and Building Block (BB) levels, considering non-functional, interface, and design topics.
  • Balance competing attributes to meet mechanical system requirements, such as package, interfaces, weight targets, Center of Gravity (CoG), and materials.
  • Assist in design reviews and meet design freeze deadlines.
  • Ensure the plausibility and completeness of the System Bill of Materials (BOM).
  • Participate in change management meetings and evaluate changes that may impact the mechanical system.
  • Initiate the development of mechanical serviceability concepts, standard Assembly process with future products.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or mechatronics.
  • Knowledge of gearboxes and electric drives.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in CAD software and 3D modeling.
  • Basic knowledge of CATIA V5 Software and PLM.
  • Knowledge of geometrical integration principles and best practices.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Additional competence in basic functions of electronics, e-motor design.
