About the position

The position involves working within an engineering team to design hydro-mechanical and pneumatic control systems, utilizing physics-based system modeling. The role requires the design of functional system architecture and the definition of major components or portions of functional systems, with a focus on meeting the needs of Fortune 500 customers.

Responsibilities

  • Design hydro-mechanical and pneumatic control systems using physics-based system modeling.
  • Define functional system architecture through the identification of major components.
  • Conduct component requirements analysis and specification reviews.
  • Utilize 3D analysis such as Finite Element Analysis and Computational Fluid Dynamics.
  • Collaborate with product definition specialists and coordinate with project, engineering, and manufacturing teams.
  • Support and present technical work in product design reviews.
  • Ensure proper filing, control, and export classification of created design data.

Requirements

  • Proficient user of Siemens NX/Teamcenter environments.
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in mechanical design at the system level.
  • Experience in designing aircraft sub-systems controls, hydro-mechanical control systems, pneumatic systems, and engine control systems.
  • Ability to conduct trade studies and understand system requirements.
  • Experience in planning and executing system design tests and analyzing results.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in drafting and documentation.
  • Ability to create and interpret technical drawings and design intent notes.
  • Familiarity with aerospace industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
  • US Citizen with an active Secret Clearance or the ability to obtain one.

Nice-to-haves

  • Proficient user of DOORs preferred.
  • Ability to create technical substantiation.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, and assembly techniques relevant to aerospace applications.
