About the position

This opportunity resides with All-Domain Operations (ADO), a business group within HII's Mission Technologies division. All-Domain Operations comprises multi-domain operations, platforms and logistics, and intelligence operations. HII designs, develops, integrates and manages the sensors, systems and other assets necessary to support integrated ISR operations and accelerated decision-making. With data fusion and mission management capabilities for the Department of Defense, the combatant commands and the intelligence community, HII advances the mission around the globe. We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Systems Engineer 3 to join an elite team of engineers providing onsite support for the Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Your expertise will directly impact national security initiatives. This role offers unique opportunities to work with cutting-edge technology while solving complex challenges that matter.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee system engineering related aspects of the contract
  • Demonstrate expertise in engineering concepts and processes
  • Identify and resolve interdisciplinary engineering issues using a systems approach
  • Analyze complex systems through simulation and analysis to recommend solutions
  • Document and implement solutions for electrical/mechanical components and systems
  • Establish design concepts, criteria, and engineering efforts for product research
  • Support research, planning, design, development, testing, and evaluation of components
  • Produce engineering documentation, reports, and drawings
  • Maintain and improve existing designs, including obsolescence management
  • Plan and direct engineering activities to ensure compliance with specifications
  • Identify program challenges and establish improved processes
  • Participate in program reviews and stakeholder communications
  • Support configuration control and risk management activities
  • Gather and maintain technical data and test results
  • Review and provide input on test plans/procedures
  • Contribute to technical documentation including Systems Engineering Plan, Security Strategy, and Configuration Management Plan
  • Support system maintenance and troubleshooting activities

Requirements

  • 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.
  • Active DoD SECRET Security Clearance
  • Demonstrated expertise in engineering concepts and processes
  • Proficiency in MS Office and related engineering software
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Proven ability to work effectively in team environments
  • Ability to travel OCONUS as required

Nice-to-haves

  • Minimum 7 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Electrical, or System Engineering from an ABET accredited institution
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Weapons Storage and Security System (WS3)
  • Knowledge of DoD 5000 Series Adaptive Acquisition Framework guidance and Air Force Instruction (AFI) 63-101/20-101, Integrated Life Cycle Management guidance
